The Artist

A second try

This web site marks the re-introduction of portrait artist Don Christensen. Don first began painting portraits professionally in 1982 after attending the "National Portrait Seminar" in New York City. He was very impressed with and influenced by the painting style of John Howard Sanden. He tried for several years to break into the profession but with a young and growing family to support, he decided to focus his efforts on his previous career as a jeweler.

Although he continued to receive an occasional portrait commission and pursued other artistic endeavors, his primary focus of attention was the creation of custom made fine jewelry. Today, though he continues to make fine jewelry he is now pursuing his first artistic passion of painting portraits.

Don’s fees

So, for all intents and purposes, Don is trying once again to introduce himself as a professional portrait artist. You have likely noticed that Don’s prices are well beneath those of other well established portraitists, despite the fact that his work may be comparable to theirs.

His low prices merely reflect a desire to build a body of work - a portfolio of fine oil portraits which will work to establish his place among the many fine professional oil portrait artist who contribute so expertly to the vast body of work known as portrait art.
